I have this feeling that maybe,
Hogwarts did already gave me my letter. But When I received it, I was so excited I blab about me getting my letter to everyone that lead it to revealing the secrecy of the wizarding world to the muggles.
Maybe they obliviated me but I preserved some parts of my memories that’s why i’m having this kinds of hunches.
